Trumpeter Greg Bush is the director of the VIU Jazz Ensemble at Vancouver Island University (British Columbia, Canada), where he also teaches jazz arranging, jazz composition, and trumpet. Originally from Montreal, Bush holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University and a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from McGill University. Greg is the former Director of Jazz Studies at Abilene University in Texas and has been on faculty at McMaster University, Mohawk College (Hamilton, Ontario) and Red Deer College (Red Deer, Alberta).

In addition to his broad teaching experience, Bush has enjoyed a career as a busy freelance jazz trumpet player, arranger and composer. As sideman he's shared the stage with such luminaries as Big Miller, Paul Horn, Bobby Shew, Lee Konitz, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bob Brookmeyer among others. He has performed in jazz clubs, concert halls, and jazz festivals across North America, and in Australia, the Fiji Islands, Germany, and at Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival. On Vancouver Island, Bush leads the Georgia Straight Big Band and performs regularly with the Arrowsmith Big Band, his own quintet, and in the pit of musical theater productions. His solo CD release Cause and Effect features his original writing and is available on CD Baby and iTunes. Greg Bush is a Yamaha Artist / Educator
